We provide long-term care and rehabilitation services that enable people with brain injuries to continue to maximise their potential for improvement and increase their quality of life. Our clients have differing individual needs, affecting their physical abilities, cognition and behaviour. Their condition can be life changing, affecting the family and social structure of the person.
We try to help our clients regain the skills and abilities lost due to ABI. This can involve teaching clients how to move, talk, think and care for themselves. We also try to build strength, co-ordination, stamina and confidence to allow people to become as independent as possible. We use the latest technology FES and Seabo to help restore function where possible. Our person-centred approach ensures each rehabilitation programme is specific to a client’s individual lifestyle and requirements and are seen in the context of the person as a whole, incorporating the family dynamics and change in social settings.
Our skilled team care for a diverse range of people following brain injury. This may include people who are in a low awareness state, through to people who have very complex behavioural difficulties.
We aim to address the consequences of the disability as well as maximising quality of life, functional potential and independence through an individual care plan, working with the client and their families.
Multi-disciplinary meetings evaluate a client’s progress, arrest any deterioration and adapt care accordingly. We provide an on-going assessment of a client’s progress in their abilities and level of independence in daily activities (such as dressing and walking).
We nurse clients through all aspects of illness. Our focus is to care for our clients within the Centre and keep hospital admissions only for absolute acute intervention.
Our patients will be taken care by a multi-disciplinary team that will help them reach their full potential and make the best out of their stay at the Kings Lodge. Each patient is unique, and so every team is different, depending on their needs. The core team will be comprised of:
